We are proud to have Knights of Sidonia as a featured anime for AFA 2014, which will be highlighted at the Main Stage for the Starchild Special Stage Event, with voice actresses Hisako Kanemoto and Satomi Arai on 6 Dec 2014.
Polygon Pictures have announced that they will be releasing a movie version of highly regarded and popular anime “Knights of Sidonia” in 2015. This movie version of the mecha space opera is scheduled for a 6 March 2015 premiere in Japan. Also, the second season of the anime series, titled “Knights of Sidonia: Battle for Planet Nine” is scheduled to be broadcast in April 2015.
The Knights of Sidonia movie will be a recap of the 12 episodes from the first season of the anime for the big screen. New cut scenes and additional sound effects will be added and the visuals will be formatted to fit theatre specifications.
The second season of the anime will pick up from where the first season ends off. After narrowly avoiding a collision with an asteroid, the Sidonia heads towards a new nest of Gauna in the Lem stellar system in Season two.
Hiroyuki Seshita who was the co-director of Season one will take the helm as the new director for Season two. Kobun Shizuno who directed Season one will direct the movie version of the series.
Polygon Pictures made the announcement at a the “Knights of Sidonia Premium Event” held at the Tokyo Dome City Prism Hall where they released a new key visual for the anime.
An English subtitled trailer was also released at the same time of the announcement.
Voice actresses Hisako Kanemoto and Satomi Arai will be attending this year’s Anime Festival Asia at the Starchild Special Stage Event.
Kanemoto plays the intelligent and perceptive Yuhata Midorikawa, while Arai plays the human/bear hybrid mutant Lala Hiyama. The Starchild Special Stage Event will also feature “Knights of Sidonia“. Head down to Suntec Convention Centre at 11am, 6 December 2014 (Saturday) to meet the voices that bring life to Midorikawa and Hiyama; and perhaps get more insight into this critically acclaimed anime!
