The official website for the highly anticipated sequel to the 2012 series “Psycho-Pass” has announced a slew of information and released a new PV, a 15-sec spot and a new key visual in the lead up to the 9th October 2014 premiere on Fuji TV’s late night noitamina block.
Psycho-Pass is set in an authoritarian dystopian future where public sensors monitor a person’s personality, tendencies and state of mind. This data is then processed and a value called Psycho-Pass is determined. The system can use this data to determine a citizen’s future and also to determine a person’s “crime coefficient”, i.e. a person’s probability of committing a crime. The main protagonist of the story is Akane Tsunemori who works in Unit One of the Public Safety Bureau’s Criminal Investigation Division. The new season picks up one and a half years after the end of the first season. Tsunemori continues to enforce the law as she continues to look for the meaning of “justice and society” in the world she lives in.
Naoyoshi Shiotani, who directed the hit 2012 series, returns to direct Psycho-Pass 2. Yuugo Kanno also returns as music director.
Some of the more significant staff changes were also announced. The second season adds award winning writer Tow Ubukata to take charge of series composition. Ubukata, who won the Nihon SF Taisho Award in 2003 with Mardock Scramble, has also worked on “Ghost in the Shell Arise” and “Fafner in the Azure” amongst others.
The new script writer for the second season is Kumagai Jun who has written scripts for “Persona 3″ movies, “Persona 4″ TV animation and “Terror in Resonance”. Tatsunoko Productions takes over from Production I.G. While Season One’s writer Gen Urobuchi and Season One’s Chief Director Katsuyuki Motohiro remain on the project in supervisory roles.

Ling Tosite Sigure’s long-awaited new song is Psycho-Pass 2’s opening theme
“Enigmatic Feeling” is indie rock band’s Ling Tosite Sigure’s first new song in 19 months. Since the release of their 5th album in April 2013 and a live at the Budokan in June 2013, the band pretty much ceased all activity as a unit as each of the members pursued their own solo projects.
Vocalist and guitarist Toru “TK” Kitajima released a solo album titled “Fatastic Magic” as well as a single titled “unravel” and an EP titled “contrast”. He also went on a nation wide tour in Japan.
Vocalist and bass guitarist Miyoko “345” Nakamura, MO’SOME TONEBENDER’s Kazuhiro Momo and L’Arc~en~Ciel’s yukihiro to form a rock band called “geek sleep sleep.” She also provided support at Koji Nakamura’s lives.
Drummer Masatoshi “Pierre” Nakano went on a drums-only nation wide tour and also released a solo EP called “Chaotic Vibes Orchestra”. He was also a popular DJ at many festivals.
Ling Tosite Sigure say that they are honoured that their first work on their return to activity as a band is the opening theme for “Psycho-Pass 2”.
The band’s unusual use of twin treble male and female vocalists and their fast, complex and unpredictable sound helped to propel “Psycho-Pass 2”’s first theme song “abnormalize” into the Top Ten on Japan’s Oricon Charts. Will “Enigmatic Feeling” be able to equal or surpass “abnormalize” in popularity?
The singles will be released on 5th November 2014 and there will be two versions.
