Japan is been renowned for combining the most unlikely of things. Earlier this month, they did it again with the Good Smile Racing (GSR) Cup held at the New Tokyo Circuit in Japan’s Chiba Prefecture.
“Bike racing while listening to anime songs, eating food, and then back to racing! It’s an event for anyone who loves characters and bikes.” proclaims the event’s official site. Right of the bat you could tell that this was not going to be your average bike race with organizers encouraging participants to wear jerseys designed with the motifs of their favorite anime, manga or video game series. And yes, full blown cosplays were also encouraged.
