The Snow Miku sculpture in Sapporo has long been the highlight of winter for otakus all over the globe. This year however, thanks to a record snowfall in Japan, otakus who could not make the long trip took matters into their own hands. While the Winter Olympics has kicked off in Sochi, Russia, the residents of Tokyo have gone on to have their own fun in the snow creating snow sculptures ranging from the bizarre, to the cute, to the down right awesome.
First up, Kantai Collection’s Rensouhou-chan’s snowy doppleganger.
Here’s the immortal Oshushi a sushi roll, made popular on Twitter in 4-koma comic strips, Oshushi is made of tuna (that little red bit on top) and rice, who can’t seem to die, even if he gets eaten.
You’d think you’ll be able to find one of Studio Ghibli’s creations out there and here it is! Toto…. I mean Snotoro!

It isn’t all fun and games, this giant cup of noodles has to shovel all that snow.
