Getting sick sucks. It saps you of your life and time to go out and have fun. Occasionally, you see your favorite characters in anime/manga getting sick, or getting injured, but it is rarely the main driver of the story (a certain segment in Kaminomi‘s Goddess Arc seems to say otherwise). But this web manga: Manshin-so Secret Service, is something different.
What it does is it takes every-day illnesses like headaches, lower back problems, dental cavities, and throw it on various, *ahem*, attractive men, and tells a story from there. I know what you’re thinking, there’s Free!, but that one is about a sport, and this one is about everyday ailments affecting some really charming moe boys.
Set in Manshin-so, the name of some upscale living apartment complex managed by the hospital that treats these young gentlemen, the story is supposedly about having these young men run secret jobs (hence the name) by the government, and be managed by a handler (I’ll put his character sheet below). I said supposedly because more often than not, the focus seems to be on the boys, how charming they are, the parties they have, and taking care of cats. CATS! The web comic is drawn by artists Nozomu Tokunaki and Fūro Hidaka.
Well, here are the characters:
Yuki Natsume, hides his stye (caused by hay fever) with his hair.
Nobutora Shitsu, cavities. Dental problems sure bring out the femininity huh.
Mamoru “PAIN” Goto, headaches from his IT job.
Takeru Orikasa, breaks his bones easily, has no affinity with milk.
Yoji Tamakoshi, lower back problems. He’s also really popular with ladies, so I will leave you to think about his ailment.
Tsukasa Kataya, stiff shoulders from all that writing.
Akito Juto, whiplash, also a tsundere.
Mitsuru Oshamanbe, anemic. Team handler, doctor, and oldest of the lot.
