This time, I’ll be taking a look at the Haikyuu!! collaboration with the Animate Café in Sendai. This year, the Haikyuu!! x Animate Café has moved up north to the Animate Cafe in Sendai, which just opened its doors in early February this year, making Haikyuu!! the first series to be featured there.
The menu has not changed much from the previous cafes. However, there are some new additions that you definitely should not miss.
The main course menu includes:
- Hinata’s Tamagokake Gohan (Hinagarasu and number ‘10’ seaweed, tamagokake gohan with assorted toppings
- Kageyama’s Pork Curry (Pork curry, onsen egg and number ‘9’ seaweed)
- Sugawara’s Extremely Spicy Ma-Po Omelette Fried Rice (Fried rice with ma-po sauce and number ‘2’ seaweed)
- Azumane’s Chinese-Style Tonkotsu Tsukemen (Meat, bean sprouts, Chinese-style tsukemen and number ‘3’ seaweed)
- Iwaizumi’s Beef and Fried Tofu Salad (Beef, seaweed, fried tofu salad and number ‘4’ seaweed)
- Kuroo’s Saury Rice Bowl (Saury over rice and number ‘1’ seaweed)
The dessert menu includes:
- Nishinoya’s Soda Ice Cream Parfait (Soda popsicle, peach and fruit jelly parfait)
- Tsukishima’s Shortcake Plate (Strawberry shortcake and mango ice cream)
- Yamaguchi’s Ice Cream with French Fries (French fries, vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce)
The drinks menu includes:
- [NEW] Iron Wall of Dateko Drink Set (Hot matcha latte, matcha cake and wafers)
- Sawamura’s Energy Drink (Sports drink, energy drink and a piece of candy)
- Tanaka’s Melon Soda (Melon soda, melon ice cream and a piece of candy)
- Take-chan’s Child-Friendly Beer (Non-alcoholic beer)
- Sakanoshita General Store’s Gungun Yoghurt (Drinking yoghurt, soda and yoghurt jelly)
- Kiyoko-san’s Manager Drink (Vegetable juice, orange juice and mango bits)
- Oikawa’s Special Milk (Milk, vanilla syrup and a piece of candy)
- Kenma’s Apple Juice (Apple juice, apple bits and a piece of candy)
- Hinagarasu Latte Art (Coffee latte)
A clear bookmark will be given to customers with every purchase of a main course or dessert, and a coaster with every purchase of a drink. The designs that are given out are random, though, so make sure you have a big stomach if you’re aiming for a certain character!
In addition, there are also new limited edition goods being sold at the café shop. Do note that the prices stated do not include tax.

*Zunda mochi is a speciality of Sendai, and consists of mochi covered in sweet edamame beans. Fun fact: Sendai is the capital city of Miyagi Prefecture, which is where Haikyuu!! is set!
The new additions to the menu, tokuten and cafe shop will go on sale starting 1 March 2015. The café itself will be running from 3 Februrary 2015 to 30 March 2015, so there’s still lots of time before the collaboration ends. As with always, reservations are required to visit the café, so make sure to prepare in advance before heading down. If you’re in the area, why not give the café a try?
