Slice-of-life anime. Somehow we always get to see one such series every season, and it usually involves a group of adorable girls. From drinking tea in a clubroom to having fun with foreign friends from England, they seem to capture the fun parts of life so well. For this season, we have Hanayamata, a bunch of cute girls dancing to Yosakoi, traditional Japanese dance moves combined with modern music.
The first thing that will strike you from watching this show is just how amazingly colourful and bright the show feels. Just by watching the opening theme and its light catchy beat, I got hooked onto the anime series instantly! Every episode is enjoyable with how the girls interact with each other and the expressions they make! You have to see it to believe it.
The art for the anime is enchanting as well as comedic, suiting the various moods. It strikes me of how the anime jumps from gags into heartfelt moments so easily. You just get pulled into the flow of the anime instantly and makes allows you to wind down after a long day or work or school.
The cast for the anime features popular seiyuu such as Manami Numakura voicing Machi Tokiwa and Yuka Otsubo voicing Tami Nishimikado. Joining them are newer seiyuu such as Minami Tanaka voicing Hana N. Fountainestand, Kaya Okuno voicing Yaya Sasame and Reina Ueda voicing the main character, Naru Sekiya. With such an amazing cast, it’s no surprise that the voices will soothe your soul! An interesting note is that the anime’s title is the combination of the names of the five characters. Ha-Na-Ya-Ma-TaIf you’re wondering how to watch this anime, fret not. It is available on ANIPLUS HD Network along with other great anime! With that, I leave you with the insert song from Hanayamata, “Kodoku Signal”!
