Awww man this doesn’t sound very happy at all. In the 25th volume, there was a message by author Tamiki Wakaki that The World God Only Knows manga will be ending with its 26th volume.
For anyone who might want to get into this series, the story revolves around Keima, a really expedient and methodical visual novel player who plays nothing but visual novels (VN) on numerous consoles. On the internet, he is well known as a capture god, having written many guides on his simple site and providing guidance to many players about the VN they are playing. Hell, even companies sometimes consult him for his expertise.

It all changes one day when he agrees to a contract, a really dodgy one. What transpired after that is having Elsea (‘Elsie’) falling from the skies and getting partnered with him to capture lost souls in girls’ hearts. From there on, its an adventure where he applies what he has learned and experienced in the virtual world and apply it in the ‘real’ (that’s what he refers to the real world).

There were many ups and downs, and near misses because real world girls do not exactly follow a set number of rules and parameters as they do in a VN or a game. So expect to see him getting himself involved in many bizarre situations even though he might have had a game plan at the beginning. Oh, and for him, there is no backing out because of a bomb-collar like device attached to him and Elsie, which will blow up – supposedly if they are not meeting targets. But so far, I haven’t seen it go boom.
I really enjoyed this series a lot, so finding out that it will be ending soon is kind of a downer for me. In any case, I am expecting a good wrap to the manga, and hope Keima ends up in a somewhat better situation… and gets a real girlfriend this time (wishful thinking on my part).
